Carly's First Birthday Party

My baby girl is one.  She had fun at her little party, but was little overwhelmed at times.  She was just getting over being sick and wasn't quite herself.

 

She started walking a week or so before her birthday.

 

 She loved the balloons.

 

 She loves sitting on chairs.

 

 She really didn't want to go back in her highcahir after dinner....

 

 but the cake was pretty yummy.

 Carly wasn't that into opening her presents, but her brother and sister were happy to help.

 

 

We had a great night celebrating our baby girl.  What a blessing she is to our family!

Carly's birthday pictures didn't exactly go as planned.  She wasn't really feeling great, but since the appointment had been cancelled once before, I decided just to do it. 

 

This is what she looked like, probably half the time :(

 It was frustrating because she is never like this.  She would scream when I sat her down and then she would lay down on her tummy and cry.  It didn't help that the pictures were being taken 5 feet from the toy box.  It's not often you tell your kid, 'Nope, sorry you can't play with the toys.'  

             I really do love this one.  Just because she's unhappy doesn't mean she isn't gorgeous :)

                            And we finally got one!!  The lone smile of the whole photo shoot.  Look at all    those teeth.  Six teeth in less than 4 weeks!

Easter 2013

We were so sick the week before Easter.  It was miserable.  Probably one of our worst weeks as parents. Mason didn't sleep for 3 nights, he got a total of 5-6 hrs of sleep each night for 3 nights and no naps.  We found out he had a double ear infection and sinus infection.  Then Carly got sick and she didn't sleep well either. We were so happy when everyone woke up feeling well enough to go to church on Easter.

Catching up a little bit from the past couple months.  Here are some highlights from February....

 

 

 



SWIMMING

 



 

 Alyssa started taking swim lessons at Donna's Dolphins in Januray.  She has done so well and can now swim across the pool by herself! ( swim, float, swim).  She been in swimming lessons off and on since she was 9 months old and she finally got it.  Donna's is great!

 

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS

We went to Steamboat in early February with my family.  We had a great time.  Steamboat had it's 100th anniversary winter carnival and they had a fireworks display on the mountain.

 Alyssa and Mason both tired skiing.  We didn't expect much with Mason since he's so little.  But he liked it for a little while and didn't complain at all.  He liked walking in his ski boots the best, crazy boy! We thought Alyssa might get the hang of it this year.  When we went two years ago she seemed to like it better at the end, so we had hopes she would do well.  She didn't really like it.  I think it was a little overwhelming to her to have 5 adults shouting out instructions.  She did a couple runs, but was pretty frustrated by the end.  I think we'll try ski school next time:)

We went tubing the next day and everyone got to go, even Carly! She was such a trooper. It was chilly and very windy going down the hill, but she smiled and laughed and never got upset.

VALENTINE'S DAY

                                                         Carly's First Valentine's Day

SNOW!

We have enjoyed the snow this year.  I'm so glad the kids had the chance to play and build forts. Nate was really into building a fort, he was out there for over an hour. The kids thought it was pretty neat, but unfortunately it melted 2 days later.

 Carly wants to be wherever her brother and sister are.  She just sat there and watched.  She has changed so much in just 2 months!

A snowman is next on their to-do list.  We haven't had great snowman snow.  Maybe the spring storm coming in tonight will have some wet snow.

Carly {11 Months}

 11 months.  Less than a month until she's one.  Carly has been such a fun baby, I'm sad to see her growing up, but I'm also looking forward to seeing her personality develop and see the little person she's going to be.  She is becoming more demanding of what she wants and lets us know if she's unhappy about something.  She doesn't like when someone (usually Mason) takes something from her or she can't have what she wants.  She is still the most laid back of the three at this age, but she is busy, busy!!  She discovered the stairs about 2 weeks ago and that has made my life more difficult.  We don't have a great way to gate the stairs that is safe for Carly and the other kids.  She is pretty good about going up and she is fast.  It's opened a whole new world for her.

 She has taken a couple steps over the last two days.  Just one or two, but she's getting braver.  We could have a walker by next week!  She got to ride in the shopping cart this week and thought it was the greatest thing. 

 The poor thing is finally cutting some more teeth.  She got her first two at 6 months, so its been 5 months since shes gotten any teeth.  She cut the upper right a couple days ago and is working on a couple more.  It has made for some rough days and nights.  Her sleep had been getting better.  She would sleep throught he night a couple times a week.  Major regression over the last week, but I know its the teeth.

She is still a great eater.  I'm starting to plan her cupcake birthday party, crazy!  Carly is such a sweetie.  Love you, baby girl!
