House hunting

The day after we arrived we went house hunting. Finding a house was a big priority for us so we got on it right away. We saw about 10 houses and the most of them were pretty nice. Some of them were kinda quirky and they all had pros and cons. There are very few closets and not a lot of storage in most houses. Two car garages are hard to come by. Ultimately, we had to choose between smaller rooms, small yard, a big garage vs. larger rooms, bigger yard, small garage. The second choice won, mostly because it was a newer, more modern house and the trampoline would fit in the backyard:)

Our one car garage. The minivan fits, but not much else.

The kitchen is nice and big. There are a few things I'm adjusting to, like a small oven, small fridge and no garbage disposal.  We have an American size refrigerator in the garage, though so that's nice. We were also given a brand new washer and dryer to use while we are here.

We have a decent size yard.

Two of the four bedrooms. They are good size, but the sloped ceiling and radiators give us limited wall space. Hopefully everything will fit.

This is the main living area. I'm standing in the dining room with the kitchen to the left. It's a nice open floor plan. A lot of the older homes weren't as open, so this was an appealing feature. I will take more pictures once our stuff arrives. Right now we have temporary loaner furniture that we are using until our household goods get here. We are hopeful that our air shipment will arrive this week. We are looking forward to having a few more of our personal belongings, but this has also been a lesson on how much stuff we really need. We are living very simply, with not a lot of extras and honestly we are doing fine. I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed and sitting on my own couch, but I wonder what I'm going to do with all the stuff we have coming! We are thankful to have a house and we are feeling a bit more settled.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have done some research on finding a qualified realtor. I simply saw the sign on a lawn, called that office, and they gave me the first available realtor. I got the busiest realtor in the place, and she was often late for appointments, forgot appointments, or forgot my name half the time.
