Going home

April 19th was the day. Shortly after I posted the last blog I was pretty sure that it was the day. Having consistent contractions for 24 hours was frustrating and uncomfortable, but when they started getting stronger and closer together it was unmistakable that these contractions were different. Nate went to bed and I stayed up trying to stay as comfortable as possible. I took a bath, surfed the internet, watched tv, etc. At about 2:30am I woke Nate up since the contractions were picking up and they quickly got worse. We left the house around 3:30 and dropped Alyssa off at a friends house. We got to the hospital at 4am and I was 5-6 cm dialated. We went to our room and asked for an epidural and we waited quite a while. I think I hit transition during the wait as I was shaking, throwing up and in a lot more pain than before. Luckily I eventually got the epidural and felt much better. About 2 hours later I was ready to push and Mason was born after 15 minutes of pushing. The pushing phase differed the most from my labor with Alyssa. I pushed for at least and hour and a half with her, so it seemed so easy this time. Mason is doing great, eating well and has been sleeping almost all the time. He has been awake alot more today though. We are really enjoying him and Alyssa likes him a lot. We've had some behavior issues but I think she is going to adjust pretty well. It's been a very tiring few days, I'm hoping for some good sleep tonight.

Is this it?

I've been having contractions on and off for 24 hours. Sometimes 10 minutes apart, then 45 minutes apart. It's getting a little frustrating, I wish it would stop so I can sleep tonight or progress so we can meet this little guy. I guess we'll see what happens tonight. I was hoping that this being my second labor it would go quickly and be easier for me to tell when I'm in "real" labor. Nate is supposed to fly tomorrow afternoon (just locally), so I hope something happens by the time he has to leave for his flight. We could have a baby tomorrow or it could be a few more days like this I guess. Keep ya posted:)

Maternity Pictures

So here I am at 34 weeks. My friend Emily took these pictures and I think she did a great job. I can't believe that I'm a month away from my due date. I'm very excited for "baby boy" ( we still haven't decided on a name) to get here but a little nervous about all the craziness going on in our lives for the next 2 months. I'm hoping Nate will be home from now until the baby comes, but there is still time for them to send him out again. We have to be in CO by May 31 and it looks like I may fly with the kids a little earlier. A 24 hour drive doesn't sound like a lot of fun with a 2 week old. Still need renters and a place to live, but I know God will work out all the details.

Check these out

Mount Rainier at Sunrise

Mount Rainier during the day

Mount Rainier at Sunset

Nate took some awesome pictures of Mount Rainier a few weeks ago. I've never seen it so beautiful. One of the best views is from the base, I love the one with the plane tail. This view is a benefit of living here, on clear days anyway.

Be sure to scroll down, I've tried to catch up on some posts from the last month.

New Year's in Leavenworth

Making a snow angel

We spent New Year's in a cute little german town in the mountains with our friends Brandon and Emily. It was fun hanging out and getting to do some winter activities. Nate and Alyssa went sledding a couple times, we went on a sleigh ride, walked around the town in the snow, ate lots of good food, played games, watched movies, all that fun stuff. It was a great mini vaca with some great friends!

The Rockettes

We went to see the Rockettes while my family was visiting. It was a really good show. Alyssa was really excited to see it because we had seen some commercials about it. She was really sick that day even though the pics don't seem to show it. We probably should have kept her home but she still liked it. It's nice to be able to do things like this now that Alyssa is older, I guess we should take advantage of it before we have another little one :) ( Note to self...That coat is sooo unflattering)

Christmas

We had a great Christmas this year. We were very thankful that Nate was home for a week and a half over Christmas. My family was here too, so we had a full house. Unfortunately Alyssa was sick the whole time my family was here but she was a trooper and still enjoyed most of the festivities. This was a fun year with Alyssa because she was able to understand so much. It was neat to see her grasp the Christmas story as we did advent activities, read about baby Jesus and learned Christmas songs. So even though she got way too many presents, I hope she got the message that Christmas is about Jesus and not just about the presents!
